Sustainability

Our aim is to provide our customers with a product that fits their lives 100%, turning baking into an experience through its sustainability, quality, and design language. This is reflected not only in our meticulous selection of raw materials, such as FSC®-certified wood or cellular substitute materials, water-based paints, and much more, but also in our daily efforts at our Berlin factory to become even better and more sustainable.

Raw materials

In addition to sourcing raw materials as sustainably as possible from FSC®-certified forestry in Germany or Europe, the company primarily focuses on long-term partnerships with suppliers, some of which have been collaborating for the 2nd or 3rd generation. All colours used are exclusively food-grade water-based colours. Our cartons consist of 80-100% recycled material, and where possible, we avoid printing to facilitate their return to the recycling system.

Production

As one of the few manufacturers, we produce our products exclusively in Germany, largely at our main plant in the heart of Berlin. This allows us to guarantee quality and environmental protection. Recently, we invested in new machinery that saves up to 25% energy and 20% raw materials. Additionally, we invest in photovoltaic systems and source our electricity from renewable sources.

Logistic

Short supplier routes and transportation bundling are part of an as efficient logistics process as possible to reduce unnecessary journeys. This also includes delivery from a central warehouse to avoid dispatching orders from bulk customers in multiple shipments. To achieve this, we rely on the latest trucks (some with alternative drives) to reduce emissions.

Packing

We are committed to ensuring that our products and packaging contain as little plastic as possible. Our film is sourced from Germany, where it is approved for the recycling cycle and registered within the central Green Dot system. As Demmler works daily to improve, we are currently testing alternative materials to completely eliminate plastic from our processes in the near future. All our products can be disposed of via standard recycling channels. Additionally, our cake toppers and baking papers are certified industrially compostable.

At Demmler, sustainability is not just a buzzword but has been our conviction for years. We see ourselves as part of our environment and aim to reflect this with our sustainable products. Therefore, we monitor the entire production and supply chain and continuously strive to improve.

We are working on implementing new materials that have no negative impact on our environment and future generations, and we have all raw materials certified and tested for their composition by independent laboratories. Of course, all Demmler products, including raw materials used and manufacturing conditions, are checked multiple times a year by independent institutes.
