Mother's Day 2022: Heart baking tin for Mum

Celebrate your mother with heart and love!

Soon it will be Mother's Day again, but actually we should celebrate our mothers every day with love and appreciation! Not only do they carry us around in their bellies for 9 months, but they shoulder several jobs easily:

They go to work, cook, clean and take care of us. If we are sick, you nurse us back to health with lots of love. Mothers are simply there for us. Unfortunately, in the stress of everyday life, it is sometimes difficult to always remember this.

When is Mother's Day 2022 in Germany?

In principle, Mother's Day always falls on a Sunday. This year, Mother's Day is on Sunday, 8 May 2022. Traditionally, the day in honour of mothers always takes place on the second Sunday in May.

There are many myths surrounding the origin of Mother's Day. In fact, Mother's Day goes back to an initiative of the American women's rights activist Anna Jarvis. On the one hand, she wanted to honour her mother, who died in 1905, and on the other hand, she wanted to draw attention to the problems of women. US President Woodrow Wilson finally declared the second Sunday in May to be Mother's Day nationwide in 1914.

Heart baking tin for mum

We took the opportunity to take our heart baking tin and bake hearts. For a little heart to say thank you for all the effort mothers put in. Today we say thank you. It's nice that you exist. Without you we would not exist. Mothers, you are great.

We baked our heart-shaped cake with a basic batter for sponge cake and refined it with bananas and a nut-nougat spread. We even replaced the eggs with bananas. One whole banana replaces 2 eggs. First we mixed the dough and spread half of it into the heart-shaped baking moulds, then we added a nut-nougat spread to the rest and mixed it nicely. This gives a nice grain, like a marble cake. We thought Mother's Day was special and made a topping too. Our topping is a cream cheese and cream topping. On top of the topping, we decoratively spread sugar sprinkles in different colours and shapes.

By the way, our heart baking dish is made of sturdy oven cardboard and stands quite stable without an extra baking dish. Simply place it on the baking tray, no need to grease it, pour in the batter and put it straight into the oven.

How and when is Mother's Day celebrated in other countries?

Besides Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Turkey, Japan, Canada, Australia, Brazil and Italy follow the United States in celebrating Mother's Day every second Sunday in May. In Israel, meanwhile, "Family Day" is celebrated instead of Mother's Day in the spirit of equality.

In France, for example, Mother's Day is celebrated on the last Sunday of the month. This means that Mother's Day in France this year is not until 29 May 2022. French people like to present their mothers with a cake in the shape of flowers on this day..

In Spain, on the other hand, Mother's Day falls on the first Sunday in May, i.e. 1 May 2022, and as "Dia de la madre" is also a day in honour of the Mother of God.
