Baking with children: What skills do children learn from baking?
We like to say that baking is love. So why not bake with the little ones and give them lots of good tips and learnings along the way. Sure, there's cleaning to do in the end, but baking together with children is not only fun for the minis, but also promotes many other qualities in your child.
- encouraging creativity: when baking, children can give free rein to their creativity by trying out different shapes and decorations.
- children learn patience and concentration while baking, because each step of a recipe can be read out loud and then implemented. An appropriate sequence is important in order to achieve a goal together.
- improving fine motor skills: by kneading the dough, cutting ingredients and decorating pastries, children can improve their fine motor skills and train their eye-hand coordination.
- boosting self-confidence: when children participate in baking and their achievements are appreciated, this can boost their self-confidence. And finally, at the end there is something delicious homemade.
- learning science and maths: baking can teach children how ingredients react with each other and how measurements and proportions work.
- quality family time: baking can also be a way to spend time with the family and do things together.
- Promoting healthy eating habits: When children use healthy ingredients like fruits and vegetables in baking, they can also learn to develop healthy eating habits. Here, too, you can explain the alternatives to sugar and their effects to the children and give them lots of positive tips along the way.
- cleaning up together: if you bake with children, you will know very quickly what a battlefield the kitchen can become in a very short time. Include cleaning up together in the baking process. Here, too, your child can learn that cleanliness and hygiene are essential.
Especially if you are baking with children, beautiful decorative motifs, such as colourful muffin tins or our children's ships, can motivate the little ones to stay on the ball. Perhaps you will also bake together for the upcoming children's birthday party. In our children's birthday section, you will find many individual motifs that will make friends and bring joy.
